As a business owner, our primary goal from Instagram is to get leads from Instagram. I will never get tired of saying that “Success on Instagram is not about having a large following, it is about getting consistent leads from it”
And, one of the ways you can do that is by sending people to an Opt-In page (also known as a Lead Magnet) or to your website or a scheduler, where your audience can book a direct call with you. Or in other words, your “Instagram Sales Funnel”.
A great way to that is by literally adding a link to your Instagram.
Unlike Facebook, Instagram does not allow you to add a clickable link to your posts. So if you want your audience to go to your Blog, your sales page. your podcast etc, the only place where you can add a link is in your Bio.
Now the question is “what if I want to add more than one link? To my recent blog, to my services, to an opt-in page and my sales page?”
I am a big fan of adding more than one link because it gives your audience a chance to explore your brand and give them options on what they want to do.
But, Instagram gives you one lifeline. Only one link.
How do you use it?
When it comes to adding it on your Bio, you have two choices;
CHOICE 1 – Use Linktr.ee.
Linkt.ree is a free service (paid plans also available) that lets you create more than one link. Anyone can open an account, link it to Instagram and get started.
The set up for adding different links is fairly simple and in the free version you don’t get a lot of customizations with colors and button styles, but it is good enough.
You can see my Linkt.ree in the image above.
The downside is Linktr.ee is often down and suddenly your links will stop working. They are good about getting the links back up, but, this has happened before more than once and what’s to say it won’t happen again.
Secondly, you don’t get much analytics, especially on the free version.
So you might have guessed that even though I (still) do have a linkt.ree account, I am not a big fan!
That brings me to your second option;
CHOICE 2 – An Instagram Landing Page
An Instagram Landing page is set up on your website and you can still add more than one link.
Why I love it?
- I have complete control over it since it is on my website.
- I can look at my analytics under google analytics.
- The set up is fairly simple and you can customize the colors and fonts!
- The set up isn’t exactly a breeze like Linktr.ee. It does not require coding but if you are technically challenged like me, then you may need some external help.
This Blog has step by step instructions on how to set your very own Instagram Landing Page.
Full Disclosure – I hired Jessica (the superwoman who wrote this Blog) to set up my Instagram Landing Page and I haven’t used Linkt.ree since then!
I think she did a fantastic job! What do you think?
Secondly, not so much of a con but If you are going to change your links very often then this may become an extra step for you. You will need to have the tech knowledge and go into the backend of your website to do it.
Although I have to say that if I can do it, anyone can do it! I am great at knowing which button to press on Instagram, but not so much when it comes to making changes on my website. And, this was easy for me!
That is saying something.
If you ask me, traffic is brilliant in the business world and as much as possible, you should be sending it to your own website. It’s definitely no surprise that I prefer an Instagram landing page way more than I prefer Linktr.ee.
Now over to you, do you add more than one link in your Bio? And, after reading this, which one are you going to use – Linktr.ee or your very own Instagram Landing Page? Or, something else? Let me know in the comments below.
